 | Ellerman House occupies an elevated position on the slopes of Lion’s Head overlooking Cape Town’s striking coastline, the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island. The gracious colonial building with sumptuously appointed interiors, shaded verandahs and tiered gardens boasts one of the finest private art collections in South Africa and is world-renowned for exceptional hospitality. Being a home rather than a hotel means that all of the rooms are different in size, shape and décor yet they all have common features such as under floor heating, air conditioning, satellite television, heated towel rails, luxurious toiletries and Internet connections. |
Room 1 is sea-facing, square-shaped and spacious. Originally Lady Ellerman’s bedroom, it is decorated in shades of cream and white and offers broad vistas of the coastline from the balcony and bathroom window. (Bedroom & bathroom size 54 m², balcony size 32 m²).
Room 2 is also sea-facing and offers wonderful ocean views from the bed. It is decorated in subtle oyster shades and has a spacious grey marble bathroom. The large balcony is ideal for intimate al fresco dinners. (Bedroom & bathroom size 37 m², balcony size 27 m²).
Room 3 is the bijou room with blue and white décor and a salmon cream marble bathroom. Its big bay window provides an excellent view of the rocky coast below. (Bedroom & bathroom size 30 m², no balcony).
Room 4 is a generously proportioned sea-facing room that opens out through two sets of double doors onto the largest private verandah in the House. Decorated in shades of turquoise and beige, it has a dramatic black slate bathroom with a circular window to frame the sea. (Bedroom & bathroom size 56 m², balcony size 33 m²).
Room 6 is at the back of the House and has no sea view. Elegantly decorated in olive tones with a bathroom finished in grey and salmon marble, it offers complete tranquillity. (Bedroom & bathroom size 26 m², no balcony).
Room 7- “The Ellerman Suite” occupies the highest floor in the House and is comprised of a bedroom and dressing room, a separate sitting room and study area plus a full-length balcony offering sweeping ocean vistas and magical views of the city at twilight. (Bedroom & bathroom size 48 m², balcony size 13 m², lounge and dining room 47 m²).
Room 8 offers expansive views of the garden and ocean. Appointed in creamy beige with hints of black, it has an intimate private balcony and sea-facing marble bathroom reflecting the beige and black theme. (Bedroom & bathroom size 37 m², balcony size 11 m²).
Room 9 has a balcony providing panoramic views of the ocean and the landscaped gardens. Decorated in calming creams and old gold with brocade drapes and colour-coordinated artworks, it has a marble bathroom in crisp creams and whites. (Bedroom & bathroom size 47 m², balcony size 16 m²).
Room 10 is a spacious split-level unit including a bedroom, seating area and wraparound balcony all with commanding views of the garden, pool and ocean. Decorated in refreshing greens, cream and burgundy its bathroom is in striking green and black slate. (Bedroom & bathroom size 47 m², balcony size 16 m²).
Room 11 is a suite occupying the sea-facing east wing of the House and is distinguished by a large wraparound balcony with private access to the garden and pool. Decorated in rich creams and blues, it comprises a raised bedroom, elegant seating area and dining table that seats eight. The bathroom is in mottled grey marble with a white trim.
